Tucked away in the charming Butter Market, Black Goo Café in Thame is far more than just a place for coffee and cake. It is a story of determination, creativity, and heart. What began as Sacha’s passion for baking and hosting vintage tea party pop-ups across the country evolved, against all odds, into a permanent café space in the town she calls home.

Opening its doors over Easter weekend in 2016, Black Goo was built through sheer resilience. The early days were intense, filled with long hours, steep learning curves, and the realities of running an independent business. From baking late into the night to navigating the demands of daily operations, it was very much a labour of love. Yet, through perseverance and the support of a dedicated team, the café not only survived but flourished.

A year later, the journey came full circle with the opening of Black Goo at Home & Colonial, a space deeply familiar to Sacha from her earlier days as a cook. Today, Black Goo Café is known for its indulgent cakes, quality coffee, and warm, welcoming atmosphere. It is a true local favourite, where every detail reflects passion and authenticity.
